रहिमन धागा प्रेम का, मत तोरो चटकाय।

टूटे पे फिर ना जुरे, जुरे गाँठ परी जाय।।

अर्थ –  रहीम के अनुसार प्रेम रूपी धागा अगर एक बार टूट जाता है तो दोबारा नहीं जुड़ता। अगर इसे जबरदस्ती जोड़ भी दिया जाए तो पहले की तरह सामान्य नही रह जाता, इसमें गांठ पड़ जाती है।

रहिमन निज मन की बिथा, मन ही राखो गोय।

सुनी इठलैहैं लोग सब, बांटी न लेंहैं कोय।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि अपने दुःख को मन के भीतर ही रखना चाहिए क्योंकि उस दुःख को कोई बाँटता नही है बल्कि लोग उसका मजाक ही उड़ाते हैं।

एकै साधे सब सधै, सब साधे सब जाय।

रहिमन मूलहिं सींचिबो, फूलै फलै अगाय।।

अर्थ – रहीम के अनुसार अगर हम एक-एक कर कार्यों को पूरा करने का प्रयास करें तो हमारे सारे कार्य पूरे हो जाएंगे, सभी काम एक साथ शुरू कर दियें तो तो कोई भी कार्य पूरा नही हो पायेगा। वैसे ही जैसे सिर्फ जड़ को सींचने से ही पूरा वृक्ष हरा-भरा, फूल-फलों से लदा रहता है।

चित्रकूट में रमि रहे, रहिमन अवध नरेस।

जा पर बिपदा परत है, सो आवत यह देश।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि चित्रकूट में अयोध्या के राजा राम आकर रहे थे जब उन्हें 14 वर्षों के वनवास प्राप्त हुआ था। इस स्थान की याद दुःख में ही आती है, जिस पर भी विपत्ति आती है वह शांति पाने के लिए इसी प्रदेश में खिंचा चला आता है।

दीरघ दोहा अरथ के, आखर थोरे आहिं।

ज्यों रहीम नट कुंडली, सिमिट कूदि चढिं जाहिं॥

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि दोहा छंद ऐसा है जिसमें अक्षर थोड़े होते हैं किंतु उनमें बहुत गहरा और दीर्घ अर्थ छिपा रहता है। जिस प्रकार कोई कुशल बाजीगर अपने शरीर को सिकोड़कर तंग मुँह वाली कुंडली के बीच में से कुशलतापूर्वक निकल जाता है उसी प्रकार कुशल दोहाकार दोहे के सीमित शब्दों में बहुत बड़ी और गहरी बातें कह देते हैं ।

धनि रहीम जल पंक को,लघु जिय पिअत अघाय।

उदधि बड़ाई कौन है,जगत पिआसो जाय।।

अर्थ- रहीम कहते हैं कि कीचड़ का जल सागर के जल से महान है क्योंकि कीचड़ के जल से कितने ही लघु जीव प्यास बुझा लेते हैं। सागर का जल अधिक होने पर भी पीने योग्य नहीं है। संसार के लोग उसके किनारे आकर भी प्यासे के प्यासे रह जाते हैं। मतलब यह कि महान वही है जो किसी के काम आए।

नाद रीझि तन देत मृग, नर धन हेत समेत।

ते रहीम पशु से अधिक, रीझेहु कछु न दे।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि संगीत की तान पर रीझकर हिरन शिकार हो जाता है। उसी तरह मनुष्य भी प्रेम के वशीभूत होकर अपना तन, मन और धन न्यौछावर कर देता है लेकिन वह लोग पशु से भी बदतर हैं जो किसी से खुशी तो पाते हैं पर उसे देते कुछ नहीं है।

बिगरी बात बनै नहीं, लाख करौ किन कोय।

रहिमन फाटे दूध को, मथे न माखन होय।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को सोच समझ कर व्यवहार करना चाहिए क्योंकि किसी कारणवश यदि बात बिगड़ जाती है तो फिर उसे बनाना कठिन होता है, जैसे यदि एक बार दूध फट गया तो लाख कोशिश करने पर भी उसे मथकर मक्खन नहीं निकाला जा सकेगा।

रहिमन देखि बड़ेन को, लघु न दीजिए डारि।

जहाँ काम आवे सुई, कहा करे तरवारि।।

अर्थ – रहीम के अनुसार हमें बड़ी वस्तु को देख कर छोटी वस्तु अनादर नहीं करना चाहिए, उनकी भी अपना महत्व होता। जैसे छोटी सी सुई का काम बड़ा तलवार नही कर सकता।

रहिमन निज संपति बिना, कोउ न बिपति सहाय।

बिनु पानी ज्‍यों जलज को, नहिं रवि सकै बचाय।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि संकट की स्थिति में मनुष्य की निजी धन-दौलत ही उसकी सहायता करती है।जिस प्रकार पानी का अभाव होने पर सूर्य कमल की कितनी ही रक्षा करने की कोशिश करे, फिर भी उसे बचाया नहीं जा सकता, उसी प्रकार मनुष्य को बाहरी सहायता कितनी ही क्यों न मिले, किंतु उसकी वास्तविक रक्षक तो निजी संपत्ति ही होती है।

रहिमन पानी राखिये, बिन पानी सब सून।

पानी गये न ऊबरे, मोती, मानुष, चून।।

अर्थ – रहीम कहते हैं कि पानी का बहुत महत्त्व है। इसे बनाए रखो। यदि पानी समाप्त हो गया तो न तो मोती का कोई महत्त्व है, न मनुष्य का और न आटे का। पानी अर्थात चमक के बिना मोती बेकार है। पानी अर्थात सम्मान के बिना मनुष्य का जीवन व्यर्थ है और जल के बिना रोटी नहीं बन सकती, इसलिए आटा बेकार है।
