Colours: the Chapter Story
A short read for Class 3 before you play. These notes are written for this page and are not copied from the textbook.
🐥 A picture story to begin
Unit 1 opens with a picture story. A duck and a hen are friends who want to go to the village fair. When they reach a stream, the hen cannot swim, so her friend finds a clever plan to help. Children count the ducklings and chicks, talk about helping friends and match animals with their young ones.
🖍 The crayon poem
In the poem Colours, two children have a few crayons each: red, yellow, blue, green, purple and black. One child needs the red and the other needs the black. If they share, they have a full pack. The poem shows that sharing makes everyone happier.
🗣 Say it aloud
The word green begins with gr and crayon begins with cr. Children say words that begin with gr, cr, dr and pr, such as grapes, crab, drum and prince, and then make a sentence with each word. There is also a fun task: read the colour of the letters, not the word itself!
🏃 Words that act
Words that show actions are called action words. Children circle action words such as laugh, dance and swim, and find hidden ones in a grid. Then the alphabet is shown with a sentence for each letter, like Anu eats an apple and Zebras graze in the zoo.
🔤 Order and friends
Words can be arranged using their first letters in alphabetical order. At the end, words become friends: rain and bow join to make rainbow, and news and paper join to make newspaper.
Colours Class 3 Activities
