A preposition worksheet for UKG helps children describe where an object is in relation to something else. UKG is also called Senior KG or SR KG. These prepositions of place activities connect familiar position words with clear pictures, spoken instructions and objects children can move.

Begin with a ball and a box. Place the ball in the box, on its top and under it. Say a complete sentence each time: the ball is in the box. Let the child copy the action before choosing a word on paper. The position word explains the relationship between the ball and the box; it does not name the ball itself.

In, on and under worksheets for kindergarten are easier to understand when the pictures show distinct positions. In means inside the boundary of the container. On shows contact with a surface. Under places the object below the reference object. Keep the reference object visible and name it whenever asking where something is.

Compare on with above using the same model. A ball resting on the box touches its top. A ball above the box is higher and, in the examples here, has a visible gap. Moving the object while keeping the box still helps children notice how the relationship changes. Avoid treating every object at a higher position as being on something.

Introduce beside and between with two or three objects. A toy beside a box is next to it. A toy between two boxes has a box on each side in the picture. Ask the child to identify both reference objects. Beside can be shown on either side; it does not mean right side only.

Behind and in front of need a clear viewpoint. Use a real chair or a large toy and agree on its front before placing another object. A flat picture can hide parts of an object or make its location unclear. For early practice, choose simple demonstrations and ask the child to describe the scene from the agreed viewpoint.

Read preposition sentences aloud when needed. Build a sentence from word cards, then check it against the picture. Repairing a label such as on beneath a picture showing a ball inside a box asks children to connect language with meaning. Later, give two instructions, such as put the red ball in the box and the blue ball beside it.

The twenty-question online prepositions quiz and ten interactive games complement the printable preposition worksheet for SR KG. Children place objects, match pictures, follow instructions, repair labels and draw their own scene. An adult can check spoken descriptions and drawings. Encourage children to explain both the position word and the object it refers to before moving to independent written answers.
