A clock and telling time worksheet for UKG helps children connect the positions of clock hands with spoken and digital times. UKG is also called Senior KG or SR KG. These telling-time activities for SR KG begin with whole hours, then introduce half past with clear clock models.

First explore the clock face. Find 12 at the top, 3 on the right, 6 at the bottom and 9 on the left. Follow the numbers clockwise. Point out the two hands: the shorter hour hand and the longer minute hand. The models here also use orange for the hour hand and blue for the minute hand, while keeping their lengths different.

For o’clock times, the minute hand points to 12. Read the number indicated by the short hour hand. If the short hand points to 4 and the long hand points to 12, the time is four o’clock, written 4:00. The long hand at 12 does not mean that every such clock shows twelve o’clock.

Introduce half past after whole hours are familiar. At 2:30, the minute hand points to 6 and the hour hand is halfway between 2 and 3. Say half past two. The hour hand moves gradually as time passes; it does not stay exactly on 2 for the entire hour.

Match analogue clocks with digital times in short groups. A child may recognise 7:00 but need more support identifying the same time on a clock face. Use a movable teaching clock, compare the two hands and model the words aloud. Begin with a small selection before practising all twelve hours.

Explore simple changes using the clock model. One hour after eleven o’clock is twelve o’clock, and one hour after twelve o’clock is one o’clock. Half an hour after three o’clock is half past three. State any morning or afternoon context when ordering times; the hands alone do not show whether it is morning or evening.

Use daily routines as examples without assuming every family follows the same schedule. Discuss a stated breakfast time or a pretend park visit and set the matching clock. Keep early tasks focused on reading hours and half-hours rather than introducing every minute interval at once.

The twenty-question quiz and ten interactive games offer practice alongside the printable time worksheet for kindergarten. Children can adjust clocks, match memory pairs, repair labels, sort whole and half-hours and trace clock hands. An adult can read prompts and review drawing; marking practice complete does not automatically assess hand accuracy.

💬 UKG Clock and Telling Time FAQs

😊 How do I teach telling time to a UKG child?

Begin with the clock face and the two hands. Practise o’clock times using a movable clock before introducing half past.

😊 Which hand shows the hour?

The shorter hand is the hour hand. Use its position together with the minute hand to read the time.

😊 Which hand shows the minutes?

The longer hand is the minute hand. At o’clock it points to 12; at half past it points to 6.

😊 What does o’clock mean?

It describes an exact hour with zero minutes past it. For example, three o’clock is written 3:00.

😊 What does half past mean?

Half past means thirty minutes after the named hour. Half past four is 4:30.

😊 Where is the hour hand at half past two?

It is halfway between 2 and 3. The minute hand points to 6.

😊 Why does my child read every clock with the long hand at 12 as twelve o’clock?

They may be focusing only on the minute hand. Show that the long hand at 12 means an exact hour, then read the short hour hand.

😊 What is the difference between analogue and digital time?

An analogue clock uses hands on a numbered face. A digital clock shows the time using digits, such as 6:30.

😊 Can an ordinary clock face tell us whether it is morning or evening?

No. The same hand positions occur twice in a day. A routine, AM or PM label, or other context is needed.
