Adjectives Learning Guide
📖 Read the adjectives guide
An adjective is a describing word. It gives us more information about a noun or pronoun. In a gentle puppy, gentle describes the puppy. In It is gentle, gentle describes it.
A purple ribbon. A tiny seed. Purple tells us the colour. Tiny tells us the size.
An oval mirror. A worried child. Oval tells us the shape. Worried describes a feeling.
A quiet classroom. The classroom is quiet. Quiet describes the classroom in both sentences.
One soft cushion. Four soft cushions. Add s to the noun when needed, but keep soft unchanged.
Helpful extension: Size usually comes before colour: a little orange boat. To find an adjective, first find the noun, then ask which word tells you more about it.
