Read about the four seasons nursery worksheet ▾
The four seasons worksheet for nursery introduces spring, summer, autumn and winter through simple pictures and familiar words. Young children can point to a flower, name the sun, count fallen leaves and talk about warm clothes. Start with one picture and one short question. An adult can read the instructions aloud so that a child can participate before learning to read independently.
This worksheet uses the common four-season picture cycle. Spring pictures often show flowers or fresh growth, summer pictures show warm sunshine, autumn pictures show changing or fallen leaves, and winter pictures show cold-weather clothing. These are learning clues, not rules for every place. Flowers can bloom in other seasons, and many trees keep their leaves throughout the year.
Connect these pictures with your own surroundings. In India, children may be more familiar with summer, the rainy or monsoon season, and winter. Seasonal patterns vary by region. Snow is useful as a picture clue for a cold winter in some places, but it does not snow everywhere in winter. Invite children to describe what they actually see outside their home or classroom.
Weather and seasons are connected but different ideas. Weather describes conditions at a particular time, such as a sunny morning or a rainy afternoon. A season lasts much longer. At nursery level, begin with today’s weather and simple clothing choices. A raincoat helps when it rains; a sweater helps on a cold day. Choose clothing for the weather rather than relying only on a season’s name.
The four seasons online quiz has 20 questions with five easy, seven average and eight thinking questions. Children recognise pictures, compare clothes, count small groups and choose sensible actions. The thinking questions remain suitable for guided nursery practice. The timer stays above the question, and the Submit button stays below the question controls. After submitting, read the explanations together and repeat the quiz when ready.
The online seasons games add variety to the printable worksheet. Children can match picture clues to season names, sort clothes for warm or cold days and find matching memory cards. A sequence game begins with spring and continues through summer, autumn and winter before returning to spring. This teaches a repeating order without introducing dates, hemispheres or complex explanations.
For creative practice, trace the season words with the red pen and draw a sun using the pale guide. Children can switch to a blank board to make their own seasonal picture. The weather-picture activity lets them add a sun, a cloud and raindrops as separate choices. These symbols help build vocabulary; the activity does not report live weather.
Keep practice short and playful. Ask a child to count a few leaf pictures, choose clothes for a cold day or describe a favourite season. Finish with the printable nursery seasons worksheet and let the child colour and talk about each picture.
