📄 Money Worksheet for Class 1
📖 Read the Money Worksheet Learning Guide
🪙 Read the money value
A money worksheet for Class 1 connects counting and number operations with simple shopping situations. Begin with the denomination written on a clearly labelled practice coin. Use the rupee symbol ₹ and say the unit aloud. Coin designs can vary, so children should identify a value from its marking rather than rely only on colour or size.
➕ Count values, not just pieces
Two purses can contain the same number of coins but different amounts of money. Touch or move each coin once and add its written value to a running total. Different combinations can also produce equal amounts. Changing the number of coins during an equal exchange does not change the value represented.
🛍️ Match payments to prices
An exact payment has the same value as the price. Start with one item, then combine two small pretend prices. Compare the total cost with the available money before choosing a payment. Classroom shop prices in these activities are examples for arithmetic practice, rather than statements about the actual selling prices of products.
↩️ Understand and check change
Change is returned when the payment exceeds the cost. Find it by subtracting the price from the payment, or count up from the price to the payment. An exact payment gives zero change. If the available money is below the price, calculate the amount still needed; that shortfall is different from change. Check a completed purchase by adding the cost and change.
🎮 Connect paper and practical learning
Use the existing download option for the printable money worksheet. The separate online quiz checks understanding, while the games support constructing amounts, inspecting receipts and solving shopping constraints. Follow with a pretend shop using labelled play money. Invite children to explain their coin choices, accept other valid combinations and keep the calculations within a comfortable range.
💬 Money Worksheet FAQs
❓ How do I teach money to Class 1?
Begin with labelled play coins, small whole-rupee amounts and pretend prices. Count values, make exact payments and introduce simple change.
❓ What is the symbol for the Indian rupee?
The symbol is ₹. An amount such as ₹6 is read as six rupees.
❓ How many paise make one rupee?
One hundred paise make one rupee. These introductory online activities use whole rupees.
❓ Does having more coins always mean having more money?
No. Compare the total of their denominations. A smaller number of higher-value coins can represent more money.
❓ How can children count mixed coins?
Read each coin’s denomination and add it to a running total. Move counted pieces aside to avoid counting them twice.
❓ What is an exact payment?
It is a payment equal to the total price, so no change is needed.
❓ What does change mean in a money problem?
It is the amount returned when the payment is greater than the cost. Subtract cost from payment to find it.
❓ How can I check a change calculation?
Add the price and the change. Their total should equal the amount paid.
❓ Can the same amount be made in different ways?
Yes. Different combinations of denominations can have equal total value. A task may set extra conditions, such as a fixed number of coins.
❓ What if the money available is less than the price?
Subtract the available amount from the price to find how much more is needed. That amount is a shortfall, not change.
❓ Are the money pictures exact copies of real Indian coins?
No. They are simplified, clearly labelled practice tokens. Use real currency with adult guidance when discussing actual designs.
❓ Where can I find the worksheet and online answers?
Use the existing page download option for the printable worksheet. Quiz answers appear after End Quiz or timeout. Games provide their own checking feedback.
