📄 Write Numbers in Words Worksheet for Class 1
📖 Read the Number Names 1 to 100 Learning Guide
✏️ From saying a number to writing its name
A write numbers in words worksheet helps Class 1 children connect a familiar numeral with its English spelling. Saying the number aloud can help a learner plan the written name. Start with a small set, provide a clear model and invite the child to read the finished word. Recognition, copying and independent writing need different levels of support.
🧱 Use word parts with place value
For numbers beyond twenty, look at the tens digit and the ones digit. For example, 43 has four tens and three ones: forty-three. The tens word comes first. A whole ten such as fifty is a single word; a compound name such as fifty-eight joins two words with a hyphen. At 100, write one hundred.
🔍 Notice special spellings
Number names 1 to 100 include spellings that need careful attention. Twelve, thirteen and fifteen cannot be formed by simply adding a regular ending to the names two, three and five. Forty has no u, fifty uses fif, and eighty has only one t. Ninety keeps the e from nine. Build and read the whole word before writing it from memory.
🧠 Check meaning and spelling
A correctly spelled word may still name the wrong number. Seventy-four and forty-seven have different values. Check the digit order first, then check the letters. Compare a draft with a model, identify the part that needs changing and write the corrected name. The interactive spelling tasks accept capital letters and spaces in place of hyphens while displaying standard hyphenated forms.
📄 Combine online and paper practice
Use the existing download option for the printable worksheet. After a short online activity, choose a few numbers to write on paper without a word bank. Return to the model to check them. The expandable reference explorer provides every name from one to one hundred, while the separate quiz and activities offer different ways to practise.

❓ Should children learn all 100 spellings at once?
Use manageable groups. Revisit known words while adding a small number of new spellings.
❓ How do I write two-digit numbers in words?
For numbers from 21 to 99 that are not whole tens, write the tens word followed by the ones word, joined by a hyphen.

Fifty is correct. The beginning is fif, not five.
